Every Ornament Tells a Story
If you ask someone who doesn't collect ornaments why they're special, they might simply say, "They're decorations."
For collectors, it's something much deeper.
Every ornament has a story.
Some remind us of childhood Christmas mornings. Others were gifts from someone we love. Some commemorate milestones, vacations, or the beginning of a new chapter in life. Even the ornaments we purchase ourselves often remind us of a particular place, a special Christmas season, or the excitement of discovering something we've searched for years to find.
When I look at my Christmas trees, I don't just see glass, glitter, and lights. I see memories.
I see ornaments that remind me of decorating with my family, Christmases spent at my Mommom’s home, and the excitement of opening boxes that had been packed away for eleven months. I see pieces that represent friendships I've made through collecting and talented artisans whose work has become part of my holiday traditions.
That's one of the reasons I believe sentimental ornaments are the most valuable ones on any tree. Their worth isn't determined by a price tag—it's measured by the memories they preserve.
Over time, our Christmas trees become more than beautiful displays. They become visual timelines of our lives. Every ornament marks a memory, a tradition, or a moment that deserves to be remembered.
As collectors, we're not simply preserving decorations. We're preserving stories.
Years from now, I hope someone can look at my collection and see more than ornaments. I hope they see a lifetime of Christmases, each one represented by the memories hanging from the branches.
Because in the end, the best ornaments aren't necessarily the rarest or the most expensive.
They're the ones that tell our story.
